Tell me about yourself.
I’m Megan Horn, I’m 18 years old and I live in Stoke-on-Trent. I’m the shared ownership apprentice at Cerris Homes.
Give me an overview of your career so far including how long you have you been working for Cerris Homes
I joined the Cerris team almost a year ago as part of my apprenticeship. Over the past year I have been completing an NVQ in business administration along with sales training and experience. I will then be looking to progress to the next level in business administration and develop my knowledge and understanding further with regards to sales and development procedures.
What do you do in your role on a day-to-day basis?
My role is office based, so I’m often the first point of contact for our future homeowners making their first enquiry; these could be first-time buyers, people downsizing, or those who have had recent changes in their living situations. I acquire a good understanding of the customers’ requirements and match this to one of our developments or properties. I’m also responsible for updating websites with the correct information, managing the CRM system, and getting documents signed and sent back to solicitors when a sale is in progress.
What is your favourite part about your job?
I enjoy being the first person to speak to a new customer. People often call us without really believing that they can afford a home. I like being the one who speaks to them, finds out what they’re looking for, and hears how excited they get when they realise that they could actually buy a home with shared ownership.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy relaxing at home, watching movies and baking. I’ve started making birthday cakes for friends and family. It takes some time and patience to get the decorations right, but it’s worth it when you see the end result.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
If I could live anywhere in the world it would be somewhere hot and sunny, where I can relax on the beach and drink cocktails – so possibly the Maldives or the Caribbean.
What would be your dream holiday?
I’m a big fan of Disney films and I’ve always wanted to go to Disney World Florida. There’s so much to do and see there. It would be an amazing place to go with a group of friends.
What is the one thing you are most looking forward to this year?
I absolutely love all of the celebrations on New Year’s Eve. This year we’re planning a 1920s-themed party, so I’m really looking forward to that!
